..that the title of this post is linguistically erroneous.

Because to believe means to make some sort of assumption of fact - to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so.
Whereas a fact is well.. a fact. You don't believe it; you know it.
Funny how a first-year and a third-year associate couldn't see it.
